"Highwayman" - Chromexcel Steerhide

The original and legendary Aero Leather "Highwayman". Often copied but never equalled now available in super heavy Chrome Tanned Steerhide, tanned in USA by the same tanner that makes our legendary Horsehide.

Our tannery has produced leather using same tried and tested methods for over 100 years, but what is less well known is that they can also use the same techniques to tan Steerhide. Since 1986, when we first acquired the old style chrome tanned heavy American front quarter horsehide, we have strived to honour the styling and techniques of US manufacturers from the mid- 1900's.

American Heavy Chrome Tanned Steerhide is now available from Aero in the same colours as our Horsehide, Black (illustrated), Brown, or Cordovan.

The front of the Highwayman is one large panel above the famous Highwayman narrow waistband, there are two deep hand-warmer pockets and a zip breast pocket on the left hand side, these lined in heavy cotton for durability. The back is our classic original two upper panels, a shallow "V" shaped yolk over a large single lower back panel above a classic narrow waistband. The strap and brass buckle side adjusters ensure a snug fit at the waist. As with most Aero jackets we use a Talon centre zipper. The sleeves are finished off with a traditional American style cuff. Lined as standard in Tartan Wool or imported Alpaca Wool, we can offer other linings upon on request but whatever the body lining choice, the sleeves are lined in cotton drill for ease of wear and fitted with storm cuffs.
