This style more than any other can be described as the all time classic American horsehide jacket.
First introduced almost as soon as metal interlocking zips were put into general use, some of the first examples were featured in the early 1930s Sears catalogues, in both cloth and leather.
This style remained relatively unaltered until the demise of heavy horse leather production in the late 1950s. The Sears 1939 Catalogue contained the typical example of this jacket at the grand price of $7.79, and versions were still being produced under their Hercules label in 1959, the price having risen to $27.97 at this date.
Like so many styles produced in heavy duty front quarter, these classics were discontinued along with this then hard to find horsehide, the lighter, more fashion orientated leathers used from the 1960's onwards proving unsuitable for such classic styling.
Our Mouton Collared half Belt is typical of the jackets produced during the early 1950's. The two deep cargo pockets are lined in Moleskin for a soft touch combined with durablity, as is the zip breast pocket, which completes the classic look. The back features two panel back sections, upper and lower with a belt sewn on across the waist lever with a strap and brass buckle side adjusters ensure a snug fit at the waist. As with most Aero jackets we use a Talon zipper.
The sleeves are finished off with a studded cuff. Fur Collar colours are Black, Dark Brown, Mid Brown & Rust.
