We are delighted to announce the release of the first of our new Premier Range of Superior Limited Edition leather jackets. The first jacket (illustrated) is an upgraded version of our current 1930's Half Belt, cut on the new patterns and fitted with the best hardwear money can buy.
For the last couple of years we've been experimenting with a whole new cut, something different yet faithful to the period that we've always worked within. Earlier this year we hit pay dirt in the form of an old 1920s Mackinaw belonging to our founder that had finally given up the ghost. The cut of this old wool coat was amazing and once the remains were carefully dismantled and transferred onto card it became obvious that it could be easily converted to accept a zipper. From day one the cut wowed everyone, within the factory the term "Premium" was used to describe the cut but word of this new pattern soon got out on the internet, well before we decided what to do with the new pattern. The shape, while classic late 1920s, has actually benefitted from the addition of a zipper, the collar is quite different from our old collar, it sits more upright to the neck curve, the points are slimmer and the whole neck area has a streamlined look to it. Although the armholes are cut much higher than any previous Aero jacket , the sleeves are very comfortable and the combination of both gives a very flattering line without any batswing effect, the bane of so many leather jackets.
Our standard pocket zipper for this range is a high grade Japanese repro of the old looped ball zipper of the 1930s, the main zippers are either a Japanese replica Hookless grommet zippers in Alloy or Brass or one from a huge stock of deadstock Conmar or Talon dating from at least 50 years ago that we've been saving for many years. We've even got a few old Crown zippers available. Minimum quality lining will be Lochcarron Wool and we've got several new leathers in the pipeline exclusive to the new range.
