At last we've managed to find the perfect cloth to replicate the most iconic of all the British work shirts of the mid 20th Century.
Made in pure cotton with a flannel finish and contrast period style stripe, this pull over the head tunic shirt is indistinguishable from the original work shirts from which we drew our inspiration. We've labelled this perfect recreation as CC41 Utility grade as it has been crafted using an original CC41 garment from our archive as a template and is fitted with long shirt tails, single cuffs and a sleeve length of a generous 35" (Centre Back Neck to Cuff End).
An artisan back in the day might have had two of these, wash day was invariably on a Monday so there would always be clean shirt ready to wear for Church on a Sunday with a collar attached and a tie of course. He'd remove the collar on Monday and put in his six days labour wearing that same shirt. On the following Sunday he'd put on a clean one, whether he needed to or not, and the cycle would continue.
COLLAR We offer the optional extra of a stiff detachable collar (£12 each) for that perfect Peaky Blinders look. Each Shirt & New Collar combination comes with a pair of genuine vintage collar studs free of charge
FREE COLLAR We have a limited number of pristine original vintage stiff collars from the 1920s or 1930s. While stocks last we will supply one of these collars at no extra charge with every shirt bought. We don't have every size but with luck we'll find more in the near future. (Collars in this condition fetch between £8 to £10 each on ebay)
